Abstract:
The application of prefabricated concrete columns with grouted sleeves (PCC-GSs) in moderate and high seismic regions is scarce owing to a lack of knowledge about their seismic performance. In this study, the seismic performance of PCC-GSs was systematically investigated. First, 3D finite element analysis (FEA) models were established and validated against experimental results. Good agreements were observed between the FEA and experimental results in terms of the load deformation response and failure modes. Subsequently, based on the validated modelling method, a detailed parametric study was conducted to investigate the seismic behaviours of PCCGSs, including the grouted sleeve height, axial force ratio, shear span ratio, longitudinal reinforcement ratio, yield strength of rebars, concrete strength, and hardening stiffness of rebars. Finally, some significant recommendations for the seismic design of PCC-GSs were made based on the FEA results. Additionally, a simplified calculation method was proposed to evaluate the displacement capacity of PCC-GSs.
