Abstract:

This paper presented an experimental study on the seismic performance of an RC frame with EPSC latticed concrete infill wall. A full-scale single-bay model structure were designed and tested on a shaking table. The openings in the walls and the connection type between the walls and RC frame were considered in the test. The dynamic characteristics, acceleration and displacement responses, inter-story shear forces and strain responses were analyzed. The test results indicate that the designed RC frame with EPSC latticed concrete infill wall has satisfactory seismic performance. A great number of cracks are clearly observed on the EPSC and several concrete lattice columns are cracked horizontally, while no damage is found on the RC frame under continuous strong ground motion. The latticed concrete walls can significantly enhance the lateral stiffness of the RC frame, and the model structure undergoes a super-major earthquake with minor inter-story drift (only 1/513). The steel bars, designed with different spacings and lengths, can play an effective role in the out-of-plane stability of the wall, thus improve the integrity of the structural system. © 2020, Editorial Office of Journal of Building Structures.
