Abstract:
In order to investigate the effect of the FPS bearing in large-span latticed shell and the influences of spatial variation of ground motions on the isolated structure, the shaking table test of a single-layer cylindrical latticed shell shrunk model with FPS base isolation under multi-support excitations was designed and conducted. Small amplitude sinusoidal waves and 3 natural earthquake records with different frequency spectrum were chose, of various intensities, dimensions and visual wave velocities, to input into the model. The dynamic characteristic with/without FRS bearing, and the dynamic responses such as displacement, acceleration and strain were examined. Mechanical characteristics of the FPS bearing were derived by quasi-static test. The results show that FPS could prolong the natural vibration period of isolated latticed shell efficiently. The latticed shell roof tends to rigid-body motion and the horizontal earthquake actions of the upper structure reduce 1 to 2 degrees due to the installation of the FPS bearings. The effect of FPS base isolation is obvious. Under wave-passage excitation, the structural responses tend to be enlarged along the wave propagative direction and the roof rotates horizontal slightly. © 2018, Editorial Office of Journal of Vibration and Shock.
