Abstract:
The mechanical performance of local bending cable located cable-strut joint is analyzed through finite element analysis and experimental research. The refined finite element model of cable under tension-bending coupling effect was established by ABAQUS, and the test of Galfan cable under tension-bending coupling load was completed. The results were compared with mechanical properties of cable under tension load, which included the mode of failure, breaking strength and ultimate strain. And the refined finite element model of cable under tension-bending coupling effect is verified by contrasting with the test. Analysis shows that the local bending of cable in cable clamp end leads to the increase of the extrusion contact area of wires, which affects the force transmission of the spiral wire, and results in the increase of local stress, leading to the first breaking. Tension-bending coupling effect has an adverse impact on the bearing capacity of cable, which causes the ultimate strain to decrease significantly, rendering structure brittle failure. It is significant to optimize the design of cable-strut joint and to pay attention to safety during the construction process. © 2017, Editorial Board of Journal of Tianjin University(Science and Technology).
