Abstract:

The wireless body area network (WBAN) is a branch of the wireless sensor network in the healthcare Internet of things (IoT) systems. Wearable body sensors are placed on or in the human body and collect physiological information. The traditional sensor-cloud network architecture is challenging due to the data transmission time delay from sensors to remote cloud servers, especially for emergency applications. In this paper, we design an edge computing-based network architecture for the eHealth systems. The mobile edge server can decrease the time delay and energy consumption. The proposed network architecture can also enhance the system quality of services (QoS) and quality of experience (QoE). © 2022 SPIE.
