Abstract:
A high-average-power 0.4-mJ picosecond chirped pulse amplification (CPA) system based on an Extra-Large-Mode Area (XLMA) 100/400/480 μm Yb-doped Triple Clad Fiber (TCF) is demonstrated. The pulse energy of 0.62 mJ with an average power of 620 W is obtained in the main TCF amplifier. After pulse compression, an average power of 423 W with a pulse duration of 7.6 ps is achieved indicating a high peak power of 55.7 MW. To the best of our knowledge, this is the highest output ultrashort pulse energy at 400-W scale by using an Yb-doped TCF. © IEEE 2022.
