Abstract:
The finite element (FE) software ANSYS was used to establish the FE analysis model of stainless steel box-section column. Based on the experimental results, the FE model was validated. The FE model was used to investigate the influence of initial geometric imperfection of the plate, width-to-thickness ratio and axial load ratio on the seismic behavior of components, and the differences in seismic behavior of box-section column made of S30408, S22053, Q235 and Q460 were compared and analyzed. Based on the results of FE analysis, the applicability of the limits of width-to-thickness ratio of box-section column in the current GB 50011-2010 for stainless steel box-section columns was discussed, and the quantitative ductility criteria and design suggestions of width-to-thickness ratio for stainless steel box-section column, with different seismic grade, were proposed. © 2020, Editorial Office of China Civil Engineering Journal.
