Abstract:

In order to reduce pedestrian delay and improve utilization of road resources, this study examined the conditions of pedestrian crossing settings at signalized intersections, according to the actual composition of road signal intersection, pedestrians, and motor vehicle traffic. Then, the pedestrian twice crossing facilities of signal intersection set conditions was studied. The signal phase and pedestrian crossing phase settings were optimized, and VISIM was used to verify the results. The results show that when the pedestrian flow is in the 2000per/h -2500per/h and motor vehicle traffic is in the 2500pcu/h - 3000pcu/h range, the reasonable setting of pedestrian twice crossing facilities can improve the efficiency and security of pedestrians crossing the street. © 2021 CICTP 2021: Advanced Transportation, Enhanced Connection - Proceedings of the 21st COTA International Conference of Transportation Professionals.
