Abstract:
The nested structure was originally found in the species mutualistic network, and later in the socioeconomic system. In order to verify whether there exists a nested structure in the global production system, we first build a bipartite network based on the inter-country input-output data, and abstract its main part to reflect the topological structure of the global value chain. Second, we adopt three algorithms to reorder the adjacency matrix of the network and carry out the contrastive analysis between them. Accordingly, we re-examine the definition of industrial niche under the perspective of ecology, and finally propose a network-based analytical framework of inter-industry mutual symbiotic relationship. © 2021, The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG.
