Abstract:
This study aims to provide a scientific basis for the optimization of the Beijing-Hebei bus network layout in the future and ideas for subsequent intercity bus line planning research. Firstly, the data of Beijing-Hebei inter-city bus lines were inquired, the length of long-distance bus lines was determined. The comparing analysis between long-distance bus lines and conventional bus lines covered four aspects. Five lines in different directions were selected. Then, based on the processed smart card data, long-distance bus travel demand was analyzed from departure time, travel time, frequency, distance and OD distribution. The results were visualized using heatmaps. The results show that travel demand is concentrated in the morning and evening peak periods and the passenger flow has obvious tidal characteristics. OD pairs are mainly concentrated in residential areas in Hebei or connected to subway station in Beijing. With the development of urban agglomeration, the travel demand will further increase. © 2022 Proceedings of the 26th International Conference of Hong Kong Society for Transportation Studies, HKSTS 2022.
