Abstract:

Pitch deviations are always the most important parameters of gear accuracy since they influence the performance of gear transmissions directly. How to quickly and accurately obtain the pitch deviations of the intermediate precision gears is the key problem to be solved urgently in automotive gear industry. Conventional pitch deviation measurement method has the deficiencies of low measurement efficiency and poor repeatability. In the proposed new method, the full information of tooth profile deviation curves are taken as the evaluation basis of pitch deviation, and the statistical analysis method is used to define and calculate the new parameters of pitch deviation, which overcomes the shortcoming that the conventional method uses small sample and extreme value method to evaluate the pitch deviation. The new method can make full use of the gear measurement data, and has the characteristics of evaluation parameters not sensitive to the random errors, good repeat measurement result consistency and close correlation between the evaluation result and actual performance of the gear. The effects of the new method were verified in actual measurement experiments on the rapid inspection machine of automotive gears. The excellent measurement repeatability is achieved even when the tooth pitch measurement speed is up to 0.3 seconds per tooth flank. © 2016, Science Press. All right reserved.
