Abstract:
The takeover behavior mode divides the takeover process into three stages: situation awareness, decision/response, and takeover performance, which can describe different takeover behavior characteristics. The goal of this paper is to verify and expand the applicability of the mode and its indicators, and to comprehensively evaluate takeover behavior. We conducted a driving simulation experiment using accident scene, with non-driving related tasks (work tasks, entertainment tasks) and takeover request time (5s, 10s) as external variables. We used takeover behavior mode indicators as evaluation indicators. Firstly, we analyzed the effects of the two external variables on the indicators system. The results showed that two external variables had significant effects on these indicators, and the indicators could reflect takeover behavior characteristics. Secondly, we used the Criteria Importance Through Intercriteria Correlation method to calculate the indicator weights, to comprehensively evaluate takeover behavior. The results showed that the final score of takeover behavior was higher under conditions of urgent takeover requests and driver engagement in entertainment tasks. This paper verifies and expands the applicability of the takeover behavior mode and its indicators, providing support for the in-depth application of the takeover behavior mode. This research can also provide support for the global study and global evaluation of takeover behavior. © 2023 IEEE.
