Abstract:

2 ∶ 17 type Sm(CoFeCuZr)z sintered permanent magnets are widely used in many important fields such as aerospace, military technology, and new energy technology due to their good magnetic properties and excellent thermal stability. The preparation technology of the 2 ∶ 17 Sm(CoFeCuZr)z sintered permanent magnet is based on the traditional powder metallurgy method. During the last decades, numerous research projects focusing on preparation technology have been carried out to develop high-performance magnets around the world. Specifically, quite a few novel processing techniques such as strip-casting, hydrogen decrepitation, jet milling and secondary phase doping have been gradually applied in recent years, which are beneficial to the improvement of overall magnetic performance of the magnet. Based on the preparation process of 2 ∶ 17 Sm (CoFeCuZr)z sintered permanent magnets, this paper introduces the research progress of magnets in as-cast alloy, pulverizing process, doping process, and heat treatment process, summarizes the effects of different preparation processes on the microstructure and magnetic properties of magnets, and evaluates the application of the new process in the preparation of high-performance Sm(CoFeCuZr)z permanent magnets. © 2024 Editorial Office of Chinese Rare Earths.
