Abstract:

To achieve the purposes of collaborative bearing the horizontal seismic force by using of the sliding-pier and the fixed-pier, the locking dowel by acceleration activating was presented. The locking dowel could restrict the relatively displacement between the sliding-piers and beams under strong earthquakes. The damping effect of the locking dowel was illustrated in the different site conditions combined with a bridge project, at the same time, the influence of the site condition on the selection of parameters and the adaptability of pier height was systematic analyzed. The research results indicate that the locking dowel can indeed improve the seismic performance of continuous bridge, thus reduce the seismic response on the fixed pier and the relatively displacement between the piers and beams. The selection range of parameter is sensitive to the change of site condition. The seismic response of continuous bridge structure is reduced rapidly by using locking dowel in the second-class site, the third-class site and the fourth-class site. But the locking dowel is feasible only for the continuous bridges with middle and high height pier in the first-class site. ©, 2015, Huazhong University of Science and Technology.
