Abstract:

Regarding the pending problem of reasonable transverse and longitudinal spacing during the design and construction of the interchange tunnels of urban underground road in Beijing, and using a 3-lane tunnel as an example, the deformation law and stability characteristics of surrounding rocks under 30 kinds of working conditions (5 kinds of longitudinal spacing and 6 kinds of transverse spacing) are analyzed using a numerical simulation method based on an hierarchical generalized model of geological conditions in the Beijing area. The influence law of transverse and longitudinal spacing on ground settlement, tunnel displacement at the interchange and plastic zone is deduced. Recommended values for reasonable spacing in the transverse and longitudinal directions and the reinforced support zone are proposed for underground interchange tunnel. Results show that the transverse spacing has significant effects on the ground deformation of interchange tunnels, and the spacing should be greater than 1 time the tunnel diameter (1D); moreover, no matter how great the transverse spacing is, the area affected by interchange tunnel construction is concentrated in a circular region in a distance 3 times the tunnel diameter (3D) from the center of the interchange. © 2015, Editorial Office of 'Modern Tunnelling Technology'.
