Abstract:
Simultaneous removal of nitrate, sulfide and ammonia could be realized at HRT of 12 h, temperature of 30±2 and influent pH of 7.5. The removal rates were up to 95%, 90% and 99% for ammonia, nitrate and sulfide at influence concentrations of 22-35 mg NL-1, 22-35 mg NL-1 and 50-90 mg SL-1, respectively. Most of sulfide removed was converted to elemental sulfur (S0) and the conversion rate was as high as 89%. Batch experiment results indicated that presence of sulfide could enhance simultaneous removal of nitrate and ammonia. The results of this study provided an innovative idea for the development of sulfide- and nitrogenous contaminants- laden wastewater treatment technology. © All Rights Reserved.
