Abstract:

A grid structure's dynamic performance considering soil-structure dynamic interaction (SSDI) was analyzed using the integral finite element method. ABAQUS and FORTRAN programs were adopted to realize applying accurately viscoelastic artificial boundaries, developing the geostatic procedure for obtaining stress equilibrium state of soil self-weight and ground motion input under viscoelastic artificial boundaries. A numerical example was used to verify the validity and rationality of finite element calculation process. Then, a three-dimensional finite element integral model was established to analyze the effect of SSDI on a grid structure's dynamic performance. The integral model consisted of a grid dome, a support structure and foundation soil. The results showed that the natural periods of the grid structure are longer with soil layer becoming softer considering SSDI, and its natural frequencies become more intensive compared to the rigid foundation assumption; the peak acceleration of foundation bed increases 5%~30% compared to the free field peak acceleration, and the softer the soil layer the higher therising level; furthermore, the node acceleration and horizontal relative displacement of the grid structure increase considering SSDI, and the node horizontal relative displacement of the grid structure increases gradually with soil layer becoming softer.
