Abstract:
An isothermal compression experiment for an Al-7.92Zn-2.39Mg-1.00Cu-0.10Er-0.13Zr alloy (7E97) was conducted at temperatures in the range of 300-460 degrees C and strains rate of in the range of 0.001-10 s(-1) on the Gleeble-3500. The stress-strain curve, constitutive model, and thermal process map were applied to characterize the flow behavior of the alloy. The interaction between dynamic recrystallization behavior and deformation parameter, as well as the Zener-Hollomon parameter (lnZ value), was examined. The findings indicated that continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX) was enhanced by decreasing strain rate and increasing temperature (i.e., decreasing the lnZ value). The DDRX is more likely to occur than the CDRX under higher strain rate and lower temperature conditions (i.e., higher lnZ value).
