Abstract:
Based on lots of vertical loading test results of pile foundations, a load transfer method is put forward to predict the vertical bearing capacity of the long bored pile in the heterogeneous strata in Beijing area. Compared with the previous methods, this load transfer method is modified considering the effects of heterogeneous strata, the depth of the soil around the pile, and the post-grouting technique. An optimized method for defining the load transfer parameters and a predicting method for ultimate vertical bearing capacity are also established. The calculated result from a case study shows that the vertical load transfer behavior calculated using this newly developed method fit the test results very well. It can be used to estimate the ultimate vertical bearing capacity of a single pile reliably in the heterogeneous strata.
