Abstract:
Based on the experimental investigation of three one-bay, two-story partially-restrained steel frame with reinforced concrete infill walls (PSRCW) at 1/3 scale under low reversed cyclic loading, the hysteretic behavior, deformation character, and failure mode of different type of shear connectors in PSRCW are analyzed. The results show that hysteretic curves of shear connectors display an invert 'S' shape, and exhibit obvious slipping character. The failure modes of three types of shear connectors are concrete crush on the basis of shear connectors. Channel shear connector possesses the highest shear stiffness, and the smallest interface slip. Headed stud has the lowest shear stiffness, and U shape deformed steel bar has moderate shear stiffness. The shear connectors in PSRCW sustained combined shear and tension, especially lied in the corner region of infill walls. According to mechanism character of shear connector in PSRCW, rational design method is proposed.
