Abstract:

The traditional Pall friction damping brace system was improved, and a PFD-SMA brace system was presented, which makes full use of Pall friction dampers(PFD) and shape memory alloy(SMA) so that the system has the energy dissipation ability and self-resetting function. The shape memory alloy bar and the PFD-SMA system were analyzed using ANSYS based on geometric nonlinearity. The results show that the capacity of the shape memory bar is strong, and its recovery deformation is much larger. The system can effectively reduce the seismic response of structure to improve the seismic performance of the high-rise steel frame, so the system has a dual self-resetting function based on the super elastic and shape memory effects of SMA, which indicates the PFD-SMA system has better seismic performance.
