Abstract:

Eight full-scale BRB specimens (4 types, with 2 specimens for each) were designed, manufactured and tested. All of them have quasi-cross section and were milled with in the working section. Cyclic static tests were conducted in a self-balanced testing system. The seismic properties, such as force-deformation hysteretic loops, asymmetric properties of compression to tension load-bearing ratio, accumulative plastic deformation, effective stiffness degradation, etc, are studied. It is validated that the kind of BRB has a reliable performance with high energy dissipation property, a reasonable constitution, and good seismic stability, and can meet the design requirement of seismic-reduction for building structures.
