Abstract:
The newest results about stress-strain relationship of FRP-confined concrete at home and abroad were presented, the merits and drawbacks for these confinement models were analyzed, and these confinement models were verified. Based on the experimental data and the analysis on the research production, a constitutive confinement model was developed for concrete circular columns confined with FRP. The feature of the model was that it included the effects of FRP confinement on the concrete microstructure by evaluating the internal concrete damage using the axial, lateral and volumetric strains, which introduced that the confinement model was simple and had a physical and fundamental interpretation with the mechanical behavior of concrete. The FRP-confined concrete model predicts accurately the stress-strain relationship of concrete circular columns confined with FRP as verified in comparison with experiments.
