Abstract:

Ti-20Zr-15Ni-15Cu filler is melted in the magnetic water cooled crucible. XRD is used to detect the alloy phases in the filler, and the result shows that various intermetallic compounds are existed. Spreading experiment is taken after the test of the solidus temperature and liquidus temperature of the filler by DSC analyzer. The vacuum brazing is processed at 890°C×30 min, 930°C×60 min, 950°C×90 min and 970°C×120 min, respectively. The mechanical properties of the brazed joints were tested. The microstructure of the brazed joints brazed at 970°C×120 min were analyzed by means of SEM and EDS, and Widmanstatten structure was found in the welding seam, and the mechanical properties of these joints are better than the others brazed with other brazing processes. In the shearing test of the joints brazed at 970°C×120 min, fracture happened on the base metal. The microhardness of the welding seam is about 380 HV, while the micro-hardness of the base metal and the filler is 280 HV and 610 HV, respectively.
