Abstract:
This paper investigates the coupling between mass-diffusion and mechanical quantities inside chemo-mechanical media. Both the mechanical constitutive equations and the mass-diffused constitutive equations of chemo-mechanical media are established. Combining these constitutive relations with the governing equations of chemo-mechanical fields, coupled finite element formulation is developed. The redistribution of mass caused by the mechanical loading and the structure deformation caused by the chemical loading are analyzed numerically in detail. The results show that interaction between mechanical and chemical fields can be simulated by the present finite element method.
