Abstract:

Many RC beams not only were damaged by the aggressive environment but also were subjected to the cyclic loads. When the RC beam was subjected to both corrosive environment and fatigue load at same time, the fatigue life of the beam decreased remarkably. In order to forecast the residual life of the existing RC structure and choose the adaptive retrofitting ways, this paper summarizes the latest research achievements about the fatigue property of corroded RC beams, analyzes the main influence factors on the fatigue life of the corroded RC beams. The results show that the more severe environment is, the lower fatigue life of RC beam is. The light corrosion level of steel bar may result in a significant reduction in fatigue life of RC beam. The corroded RC beams retrofitted using Fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) is a good way for improving the fatigue behavior.
