Abstract:
The GMAW droplet transfer models of solid wire were reviewed. The developing processes of GMAW droplet transfer simulation were briefly summarized, SFBT (static force balance theory), PIT (pinch instability theory), and VOF theory were mainly discussed. The conclusions are that the results predicted by VOF method are more close to the experimental ones compared with that by SFBT and PIT method. Metal vapor pressure or more other factors should be considered for the purpose of improving consistency between computational results and experimental ones.
