Abstract:

Shear wall with concealed truss is brought forward. This concealed truss can be constructed with profiled steel, steel bar or profiled steel appending steel bar. This new composite shear wall includes two kinds of composition. One is composition of two bearing systems, including truss and shear wall. The other is composition of two materials, including steel and concrete. The experimental study were carried out on the seismic behavior of six 1/3 scale shear walls, including a usual shear wall, a shear wall with steel frame, a shear wall with steel bar truss, a shear wall with steel frame and steel bar truss, a shear wall with steel truss and a shear wall with steel and steel bar truss. Based on the experimental study, the stiffness and its attenuation, load-carrying capacity, ductility, hysteretic property, energy dissipation and failure phenomena of each shear wall are contrastively analyzed. The experimental results show that the seismic behavior of the shear wall with steel frame and every truss with different materials is obviously improved. The formulas of load-carrying capacity are established. The results obtained from the formulas and that from experiment are in good agreement. Finally, some suggestions for seismic design of this new shear wall are proposed.
