Abstract:

Alternative construction solutions, including cut-and-cover method and cover-and-cut reverse method, are proposed for Xidan station engineering on Line 4 of Beijing subway. Design parameters and construction methods for the retaining and support structures are given, respectively; and their advantages and disadvantages are analyzed. Cover-and-cut reverse method is selected as the preferred construction solution based on the comparison of technology, economy and environment. The construction method about the cover-and-cut solution are erected. Although the preferred solution costs a little more than the alternative one, the construction scheme will have little effects from surroundings and the influence to transportations on the ground surface will be reduced. It is verified through practice that the cover-and-cut reverse method is safe and feasible.
