Abstract:

On the basis of the test of the characteristics of aeolian sand in Al'er-Hetian desert highway, the compaction, modular of elasticity and settlement for aeolian sand basement are monitored and analyzed. The natural aeolian sand embankment, whose moisture capacity is about 1%, has been compacted well (natural compaction achieves more than 95%), the modular of elasticity can be satisfied with embankment specification and the settlement is small, even if compaction is a little under the specification requests. Besides, Aeolian sand particles are uniform and dense, the compressibility is small. Roadbed has been compacted by heavy loading vehicles during construction, so the settlement will be steady after pavement is paved.
