Abstract:
The Ca addition in Mg alloys significantly raises the ignition point of the magnesium alloys in air. The oxidation resistibility of magnesium alloy at elevated temperature could be increased by adding a small amount of Ca. The effects of Ca addition on mechanical properties of different magnesium alloys are different at ambient temperature. The elevated temperature strength and creep property of magnesium alloys can be improved by the Ca addition. Moreover, Ca is an effective alloying element to enhance the corrosion resistivity. The magnesium alloys with Ca element is hopeful of becoming one kind of new promising light-weight heat-resistant alloys.
