Abstract:

TiB2 powder was coated using Ni-B alloy by electroless plating to improve its spraying performance. The coating process was examined and the coating was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). The apparent density and flowability of the coated powder were tested by Hall flow-meter. The results show that the apparent density is increased from 1.15-1.17 to 1.38-1.39 g/cm3 and the flow time of 50 g coated TiB2 powder is 94-97 seconds. The denser Ni-B coating can be obtained by supplementary plating bath and the percentage coating area is more than 95%.
