Abstract:
When the current block is at the very edge of the moving objects or on the boundary between two objects, the existing intra prediction modes can not present the difference of the neighboring pixels well. This paper presented a distance based intra prediction method in video coding to solve this problem. The authors used the pixels up to the current macroblock to make a reference which would express the changes in vertical direction to create vertical matrix of distance in horizontal intra mode. Similarly, the authors used the correlation of the pixels left to the current macroblock to create horizontal matrix of distance in vertical intra mode. Based on the different correlation according to different distances, the authors changed 5 intra modes referred to the distance based on the method. The experimental results show that video sequences with different resolution can be compressed effectively with these new intra prediction modes.
