Abstract:
By using hysteretic damping resulting from superelastic deformation of shape memory alloy (SMA), a new type of SMA-rubber bearing for seismic isolation is developed in this paper. A mechanical model of the bearing is established. Based on the simulation analysis for dynamic responses of a SDOF isolation system applying SMA-rubber bearing, the dynamic property is studied in detail. The results show that the SMA-rubber bearing has excellent performance of seismic isolation and energy dissipation.
