Abstract:
A 200 kW powertrain platform was developed to test performance of a fuel cell engine in simulated city bus conditions. The platform used both water resistance and electric drive loads. The fuel cell engine operating modes on the powertrain platform could then be simulated for actual driving conditions on a city bus. Problems about careful matching of components to protect the system are studied and realistic test conditions for the fuel cell engine are provided. Experimental results show that the large power fuel cell engine can be efficiently tested on the platform.
