Abstract:
Structural health monitoring (SHM) is a technology that can change the maintenance mode of structure from passive to active. This paper introduces Lamb waves into the monitoring of cracks on bogie frame, which is beneficial to monitor the damage of blind areas in traditional inspection that are unable or inconvenient to detect. At the same time, this method is conducive to realize the life-cycle management. In addition, the detection method based on vibro-acoustic modulation theory is very sensitive to the closed micro cracks. Therefore, it can recognize the damage in initial stage, thus reduce the loss. Experiments show that this method can effectively identify the fatigue cracks on bogie frame with no need for healthy baseline data. © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2020.
