Abstract:

Password and short message based authentication methods are currently the most popular ones to authenticate mobile users. However, there are many security risks involved in these authentication methods. This is because passwords are mostly static and SMS-based authentication codes are mostly transmitted in plaintext form and can thus be easily intercepted, making users identities easily exposed to adversaries[1]. In recent years, fingerprint identification and face recognition technologies have set off a huge tide in the identification and authentication of mobile terminals. However, some users may not have sufficient fingerprint characteristics while some other users may generate a great number of impressions by making some changes in the face. The visual image of the face can also vary greatly, not to mention that face recognition is affected by illumination conditions, areas of coverage, ages, etc., making facial recognition very unstable for authentication[2, 3]. In this paper, we propose a technique in which we use IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) to apply the backstage hidden automatic identification authentication mode for the user. The proposed scheme has good user experience and can enhance the practicability of identity authentication. In addition, compared to existing authentication schemes, the proposed scheme does not require the transmission of sensitive data in the authentication process, further enhancing security. © 2018 The Authors.
