Abstract:
Recently, with the explosive increase of mobile devices, it is difficult for the traditional Internet to support the increasing mobile data traffic. Therefore, innovative information-centric networking (ICN) architectures have recently been proposed to better cope with the shift from host-centric end-to-end communication to receiver-driven content retrieval services. Although several significant research challenges remain to be addressed before widespread deployment of ICN, the potential advantages make it suitable for mobile wireless environments. In this paper, we present a brief survey on the works that have already applied ICN to the wireless networks, and discuss the related research issues and challenges. © 2017 IEEE.
