Abstract:

By using the general purpose finite element code such as ANSYS, It is not easy to perform spectrum analysis for engineering structure when spatially varying ground motions are of interest. To overcome this difficulty, this paper presents a response spectrum analysis of high-pier and long-span railway bridges subjected to multiple support excitations based on stochastic vibration method. The selfcode is developed by using Matlab and APDL language in ANSYS. Along-span and high-pier bridge is employed for a typical numerical example and the multiple support excitation analysis of this railway bridge is conducted. The influences of coherence loss effect, wave-passage effect and site-response effect are considered. The results indicate that the proposed approach can conveniently consider the ground motion spatial variations in the spectrum analysis. © 2017 Taylor & Francis Group, London.
