Abstract:
Through a survey of 6,014 residents in 6 districts of Jinan, we analyzed various factors which affect public transport share rate using the disaggregation theory and combination techniques of SP data and RP data. Based on our model analysis, we found that the time factors - including bus travel time, walking time, and waiting time - and the economic factors - including ticket price, parking fees and fuel price - are the key factors influencing the public transport share rate. There are exponential or polynomial function relationships between the above factors and the public transport share rate. Through a sensitivity analysis of the relevant factors, we found the elasticity value of the bus travelling time versus public transit share rate is -0.394. Similarly, we concluded how the changes of other factors affect the public transport share rate. The results will provide theoretical basis for taking measures to improve the attractiveness of buses and alleviate traffic congestion. © 2014 American Society of Civil Engineers.
