Abstract:

As the newest video encoding standard H.264/AVC obtained higher compression ratio at the cost of huge coding complexity, the encoding real-time sharply declined, and become the bottleneck of H.264/AVC in widely used. Aiming at the important and time-consuming encoding technique of H.264/AVC, combining the motion acuteness degree of macro block, the new motion estimation search template and adaptive motion estimation search strategy were designed here. The simulation results show that the proposed motion estimation method achieve reduction of 23.11% motion estimation encoding time on average compared with UMHexagonS method which was selected by H.264/AVC latterly, with almost the same PSNR and output bit-rate, in the premise of effectively improving the encoding speed, keep the low bit rate and high quality of encoding advantage for H.264/AVC. © 2011 IEEE.
