Abstract:
As a complex system with various traffic operational facilities, the overall performance of urban transportation network is difficult to assess. This paper suggests a methodology of the macroscopic evaluation on urban traffic condition by combining two-fluid model and the probe vehicle data. Map-matching based on GIS is applied to calculate total travel time, running and stop time per unit distance, which resolves the problems in data collection for estimation of model parameters. The established model considers a network to be assessed as a whole system and provides a reliable and feasible way to evaluate macroscopic characteristic of urban street network.
