Abstract:

The concept and the meaning of structural health monitoring (SHM) are introduced. The function, composition , and application cases of structural health monitoring system are discussed. The standardization of structural health monitoring system design could enhance the application and development of SHM and the value in engineering is high. The correlative research is reviewed and evaluated. The significance of standardization of SHM system design is emphasized and the corresponding details and advice are proposed. The design standard is composed of 7 parts, which include general rules, visual inspection and NDE, selection and placement of sensors, data acquisition and analysis subsystem, communication and transmit subsystem, damage detection and evaluation subsystem and application examples. The realization of standardization of SHM system design could impel the research on SHM effectively.
