Abstract:

Through the analysis on the characteristics of pedestrians crossing behavior, pedestrians' acceptable waiting time, and pedestrians' choice of vehicles critical time interval at unsignalized mid-block crosswalks , pedestrian crossing resistance model has been built, and then the waiting time with the resistance coefficient 15% has been worked out. In the end, pedestrian level of service at unsignalized mid-block crosswalks division standard has been established based on pedestrians' real feeling. This method combines the advantages of traffic conflict and pedestrians' feeling, so that it can overcome the shortcoming of the previous studies, including the subjectivity of pedestrians experience, the complexity of index and practical operational difficulties.
