Abstract:
It has been recognized that the seismic performance-based design should be used as a common method in seismic design of structures. Expressions for evaluating the seismic capacity of confined concrete block (CCB) wall combined with its restoring force characteristic model are proposed in this paper. Then the proposed model is applied to the nonlinear dynamic response and the nonlinear static-pushover analyses with different lateral force distributions of three typical CCB buildings of six, seven and eight stories. Based on the obtained numerical results the effects of site condition, input acceleration level and lateral force pattern in the pushover analysis, etc. on structure responses are discussed and some conclusions are reached. They would be beneficial for the application of the pushover analysis to the seismic performance evaluation of CCB buildings.
