Abstract:
The key to obtain equivalent soil spring coefficient is to calculate the ultimate soil bearing capacity of soil-pipe interaction. The domestic and international criterions adopt the bearing capacity coefficient to characterize the ultimate bearing capacity, which is considered to be only related to the internal friction angle of soil and the ratio of embedded depth to diameter, but the ratio of embedded depth to diameter in the criterion is relatively small (about 10 or less). At the same time, the literature about ultimate soil bearing capacity of buried pipeline-silt clay lateral interaction is very few. So in order to study the lateral interaction between the buried pipeline and the silt clay, a series of model tests were carried out. In present paper, the experiment is introduced firstly, including the equipment and the test cases. Then the test results are shown, and the damage mechanism and damage mode are studied. Finally, the influence factors are studied and some conclusions are obtained. © 2017 American Society of Civil Engineers.
