Abstract:

Applying life cycle assessment methodology coupled with calculating methodology of greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions of waste management in Guideline for national Greenhouse Gas Inventory, the life-cycle GHG emissions from paper product in China based on the data in 2010 and 12nd developing plan of paper product were calculated. The life cycle boundary included forest planting and management, pulp and paper-making, transportation, waste paper to de-inked pulp, incineration, and landfill. Results show that the total GHG emissions of paper product in 2010 and 2015 are 13.4 and 20.3 Mt CO2-eq, respectively, in which GHG are stored at forest planting and management are 82.6 and 108.2 Mt CO2-eq, respectively, the GHG emissions from pulp and paper-making are 52.4 and 77.3 Mt CO2-eq, respectively, the GHG emissions from transportation are 8.3 and 10.3 Mt CO2-eq, respectively, and the GHG emissions from waste paper to incineration and landfill are 35.3 and 40.9 Mt CO2-eq, respectively.
