Abstract:

Based on method 552.3 that is a standard method recommended by the USEPA for the determinations of disinfection byproduct HAAs in drinking water, the determination method of haloacetic acids (HAAs) in reclaimed water was proposed by optimizing the course of sample pretreatment and changing the detection approach. The method included acidified extraction, derivatization, neutrallzed extraction, and GC-MS, and the method was used to analyze four kinds of HAAs disinfection byproduct in reclaimed water samples located at a northern city of China. The result showed that the method can effectively eliminate coexist disturbance applying to China's reclaimed water quality and has good precision giving RSD (n=7) of below 10%, detection limit is basically the same as the USEPA method, recovery rate of water samples meet the USEPA 6251B (100 ± 30)% requirements and four kinds of HAAs concentration in reclaimed water are a few times higher than in tap water, which has some potential hazards to the environment and human.
