Abstract:

Intermediate frequency resistance spot welding was used in hot stamping high strength steel (HSHSS) 22MnB5 of 2 mm thick specimens, obtaining a sound connection by using reasonable welding parameters. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the joints of IF resistance spot welding for hot stamping 22MnB5 were analyzed. Shearing tension and cross tension tests of spot welding joints were carried out. Discussion of the welding performances was presented, and hardness distribution and fracture mode of the joint cross-section were tested and evaluated. The regulations of the different resistance spot welding specifications influencing on the mechanical properties were founded. The results show that IF resistance spot welding joints have good mechanical properties by using reasonable IF resistance spot welding process and the mechanical performance completely meet the actual need of products.
