Abstract:
The Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 quaternary alloy rods with 3 mm in diameter were prepared by copper mold with suction casting method in water cooling copper crucible at different pouring temperature. Effects of pouring temperature on glass forming ability (GFA), mechanical properties and microstructure of Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 bulk metallic glass were investigated. It shows that the GFA and thermal stability of as-cast Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 alloy increase with the increase of pouring temperature. Supercooled liquid region ΔT x and parameter γ increase from 73 K to 89 K, and 0.413 to 0.417, respectively when the casting voltage increases from 7 kV to 10 kV. Also it is found that the compressive strength increases and the plasticity slightly decreases when pouring temperature increases in a certain extent. However, the compressive strength and plasticity simultaneously increase when casting temperature increases to10 kV.
